In an ever-evolving industry, policies serve as the backbone of organizational structure and integrity. However, maintaining these policies to ensure they remain current and effective can be a challenging task and one that is often overlooked among day-to-day busy-ness.

While many of a PHA’s policies are governed at a federal level, each agency does have some freedom in how they implement and enforce them. A big bonus to asking for feedback is the opportunity it gives you to advocate for your community. You may not make the final decision, but you can take the data you have and go to bat for those who don’t have a seat at the table.  

Asking for feedback is so important because it: 

  • Provides Insights and Identifies Gaps: Reveals the practical challenges of your teams and community. It highlights inconsistencies and areas for improvement which ensure your policies stay agile and responsive.

  • Increases Buy-In: Encourages acceptance and adherence to the policies by both employees and the community. It also enhances a sense of belonging.

By investing in these resources, we show we’re serious about keeping things in line while giving our team the tools to handle all the complex rules out there.

Doing this helps us avoid the problems that result from outdated policies, run things more smoothly, and build a workplace of trust where everyone feels confident and responsible.
